Fort Worth, Texas, Oct. 17, 2023 – eTrueNorth, a U.S.-based healthcare services company, in collaboration with CIMPAR, a leading healthcare solutions provider, is expanding access to updated COVID-19 vaccinations at long-term care (LTC) facilities.
LTC facilities are a critical component of the U.S. medical infrastructure. However, LTC staff are disproportionately underinsured or uninsured. Through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Bridge Access Program, and in partnership with Victory Pharmacy, free COVID-19 vaccinations will be available to eligible LTC staff, patients and their families at LTC facilities throughout Illinois.
Dheeraj Mahajan, MD, geriatrician, and the president and CEO of CIMPAR expressed his commitment to supporting LTC facilities stating, “The cessation of public health emergency (PHE) related support has left these vital facilities with fewer resources to protect their residents and staff. CIMPAR is wholeheartedly committed to filling this gap and ensuring that LTCs and their communities receive the support they need.”
The CDC recommends that everyone ages 6 months and older receive an updated COVID-19 vaccine and is dedicated to protecting access to free COVID-19 vaccines for all. The updated COVID-19 vaccines are covered by most insurance. Uninsured children have their vaccines covered by Vaccines for Children (VFC). There are also 25-30 million adults, however, without health insurance, and additional adults whose insurance will not cover COVID-19 vaccination or require a copay. CDC’s Bridge Access Program partners with healthcare providers, federally supported health centers, and retail pharmacies to offer free COVID-19 vaccines to adults who are uninsured and underinsured.
eTrueNorth enables retail pharmacies to expand their offerings and provide pharmacy-based testing and other clinical programs. Pharmacies interested in expanding access to free COVID-19 vaccinations through the Bridge Access Program at their pharmacy or in the community can enroll by visiting www.joinetruenorth.com.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved and authorized updated COVID-19 vaccines as of Sept. 11, 2023. The vaccines are formulated to provide better protection against the most recently circulating COVID variants. The mRNA vaccines are manufactured by Moderna US, Inc. and Pfizer Inc. Individuals covered in full by insurance are not eligible for vaccination under the Bridge Access Program.
